Well, even though St. Patrick’s Day is still a few months away,
anytime is a good time to celebrate Irish Culture, Heritage and Pride.
Back in 2009 during Labor Day weekend, Long Grove, Illinois was putting
on it’s annual Irish Days. This three day celebration included a
variety of Irish bands, Irish Dancing, Irish Food, Irish Drink and just
about anything Irish could be found at this Long Grove, Illinois staple
event - Irish Days. So a lot of Irish music, like I mentioned including
some top Irish and Irish-Americans acts. Also there was several Irish
and Irish-American authors signing copies of their books. One big
highlight, you know Me and this one’s a kicker - an Irish Dog
contest. It seemed the all breeds of dogs were Irish breeds, whether
they were or not. Of course traditional Irish Wolfhounds were in this
contest, as well as cutie pie dogs, but maybe not thought to be Irish
at first glance. Also during this event was a Irish Dancing
Demonstration. Members of the crowd had the opportunity to learn
authentic Irish dances. Visitors for the day had a rare chance to learn
some interesting Irish Dance moves. Also there was plenty of activities
for the wee little ones.
