2007 QUILT SHOW
Saturday September 15
&
Sunday September 16, 2007
Jefferson Junior High School
Woodridge, Illinois
On Saturday September 15 and Sunday September 16, 2007 at Thomas Jefferson Junior High School in Woodridge, Illinois The Faithful Circle Quilt Guild put on it's Seams Like Fun Quilt Show. Because this show is so large in nature, they only have it every two years, so the next one will be in September 2009, but believe Me it will definitely be worth the wait.
The Show consisted of two days of demonstrations, raffles, auctions, presentations, plus of course the raffling of a quilt, called The opportunity quilt. Also there was a raffle for a brand new sewing machine, the perfect prize for someone wanting to start on their new Quilt.
There was two gyms in Jefferson chalk full of quilts. One gym was just covered in simply gorgeous quilt. Quilts from members of The Faithful Circle Quitters. The another gym was occupied by all the quilt related vendors and of course one of the crown jewels for the Quilt Show - The Alzheimer Quilts.
This year The Qulit Show was able to present
The Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative
The first is a nationwide quilt exhibit called "Alzheimer's: Forgetting Piece By Piece." It contains 52 quilts each interpreting Alzheimer's in some way. So far, an estimated 88,000 have already seen these quilts. They will crisscross the country from August 2006 until July 2009. This exhibit made a raw stop in Illinois.
Faithful Circle Quilt Guild, celebrating its 32nd anniversary, began as a class taught by Janet Bingle in 1974. Her students decided to continue the fun and share their newfound knowledge with others. They have seen the guild grow from 10 to 150 enthusiastic members.Faithful Circle Quliters is based in Downers Grove, Illinois, but boasts members from surrounding communities such as Clarendon Hills, Lisle, Naperville, and Woodridge, to name a few.Faithful Circle Quilters usually meets the fourth Wednesday of the month at First Presbyterian Church at 4th & Fairview Ave. in Downers Grove.
