Hey There. June is upon us and summer is just around the corner. However, I want to take You back to April of this Year and let You know about a fun, exciting and very worthwhile event. The Berwyn Jaycees were proud to present their 5th Annual Monster Mini-Golf Pub Crawl.

On Saturday April 25, 2009 Jaycees from around the state of Illinois came to play miniature golf, drink some great spirits, have an ice cream cone, eat pizza and came for just good fellowship and good will. Every year The Berwyn Jaycees put on a Monster-Mini Golf Pub Crawl. A Pub Crawl is a fun time when people can hop from bar to bar or ice cream parlor or pizza parlor and enjoy a cold one, either beer or root beer float, a Chicago style pizza, etc with friends and acquaintances. Enjoy a beer, mixed drink or any spirit, but instead of just going to a single bar for say 7 drinks, people go to 7 bars and have one drink. This Monster-Mini Golf Pub Crawl, runs on a similar principal. Teams of 4 people play miniature golf at 9 selected bars, pizza joints and ice cream parlors in downtown Berwyn, right by the railroads tracks. Between the Harlem Avenue Metra Burlington Northern Station and The Berwyn Station lies many greats bars, ice cream parlors and pizza places. Jaycees and friends and family of Jaycees traveled along the tracks and visited 9 Berwyn Establishments to play miniature golf. At each place there was one hole and each team would play at that hole. Holes are actually designed by the individuals establishments themselves, in fact there is even a award for best hole, that is created by the places. A team carries a scorecard and keeps score for the four players. Each card is authenticated and signed by each manager of the establishment. Also each team has a specific route. Different teams have different routes so 50 teams aren’t stepping all over each other. Each team has a unique order they play there holes, however by the end of the day, everyone will have played all the holes. Again, at each establishment Jaycees, etc can enjoy an ice cold beer, pizza pie or fruit smoothie. Each place offers drink special and a most of the bars offered food specials. Also there was awards for highest and lowest score. As well as a special after party after the event. The cost for this event was just $60 per 4 person team. Just a mere $15 per person. Plus there was a early bird $50 special. This included the after party as well. All money and revenue generated today went toward the Berwyn CARES scholarship program for Morton West High School students who will be attending college this fall.
