The Downers Grove American Legion Post was putting on an event honoring their members and members of the Community who very proudly served in World War, whether the Pacific, or The Atlantic, World War II Veterans were honored. The event first included an open bar, followed by a short presentation that included presenting awards to American Legion Post 80 World War II Veterans. Then there was a yummy banquet style dinner. Italian Beef, Roasted Turkey, I mean the verks.
It was just a great day to say "Thank You" to these World War II Vets.
I had the pleasure of speaking with five World War II Veterans Bill Westrup, Roy Bartholomae, Vic Kubelsky, John Kloster, and Elmer Mears.
